Random Thursday. Things I like about cold weather...

Hallo meine Lieben,

welcome to another week of Random Thursday! I hope you are all having a great time. Can't wait to read your posts! Thanks in advance for reading and linking up!

Wearing boots and scarves.

I have a little weakness for boots and scarves and probably own more than I need. And I am also a fan of wearing scarves all year round...which is very German I guess. But I don't do it without a reason: I always get cold, even in summer. Plus scarves just always look good. I am still knitting on my first scarf which I started months ago. I am not sure if I will ever finish it but I won't give up that easily.

Spending time snuggled up on the couch with a book, a blanket, a hot water bottle and a cup of tea.

As you can see: Lumpi likes it comfy too. He is a very cuddly cat so he loves spending time on (or under) blankets and pillows. Cold days are perfect for not leaving the couch at all. You just need to have enough food, tea and books around you. And the cold weather is the perfect excuse for a lazy day at home.

Catching up on TV shows.

When it is too cold to go outside you basically have no choice. You can either watch a show or movie, read a book or do something creative. This reminds me that I also need to start a puzzle. Another perfect thing to do on cold days.
But yeah, I have a lot of shows to catch up with. 8 seasons of Criminal Minds for example.

Baking and cooking and being crafty.

I am totally in baking mood currently. Yesterday I tried to make a cherry-nut-banana cake which was a bit of a fail but I am sure next time will be better. I also need to make my Grandma's Christmas cookies and start painting again.

Have a fantastic day and come back next week for another awesome topic!

  1. Hi Katrin

Nice post! I like winters too esp the mild ones. if one has a cup of tea, a pet and a good book along with a cozy blanket in winters, what else does he/she need in the world!!

    :)

  3. I love baking in winter. It makes the kitchen so cozy! It's not as much fun when it's already hot then you switch on the oven and create even more heat...

  4. Haha, yes being cozy and reading is the best :) I also think everything seems cleaner in the winter, cities in particular smell a lot better when it's cold!

    1. Yeah, I agree. I love when it smells like Christmas in the cities. Can't even describe the smell. It is a mix of mullet wine, Christmas cookies and I don't know what else. :) And yay for reading!

That pic of Lumpi is so cute!
I love watching TV shows, reading book or being creative, especially in fall and winter. And baking is one of my favorite things to do, too. I just made a redwine cake this week :)

  10. I really hate winter, but I am trying to be more positive about it this year and not let it confine me to my bedroom. Here's to putting on my boots!

  13. What a gorgeous post! I too have far too many scarves and boots which wouldn't be a problem except that I find myself wearing the same old ones time and again. I'm looking forward to some serious snuggle time with my cats this winter. It will be the first time since August 2010 that I'm not studying!

    1. I suffer under the cold too. I am always cold. I am trying to make the best out of it which is easy when you don't have to leave the house. But once you do it is hard work! I am sure it is nice to be at such a warm place right now! But I would miss the cozy things too!
Thanks for your kind words and for stopping by!

  16. I so hate winter! I'm always sick, it's even harder to get up early in the morning, the sun goes down way too early ... But then again, as you've mentioned, low temperatures are good for snuggling with cats, baking & eating, reading and watching TV :p.

    1. I agree that it is hard to get up in the morning when it is dark outside. Plus it is dark again at 5pm. That is a bit depressing. But all the things you can enjoy inside are pretty awesome. :)
